Bob married Barbara Dutchess in
1959. She attended
Kenmore
High School in her junior
year, then moved to
Indianapolis with her
parents, where she graduated from
Shortridge
High School. After spending two years in
the Army, she moved back to Kenmore with her
parents, where she and Bob met in church. He says she was standing in
front of him in the 1955 Kenitorial Debate Club picture, but he
didn’t know her then.
Barb graduated from
Palomar
College, and after their
children were older, she worked for an escrow company for 27
years. After Bob
graduated from UB and was in the Air Force for six years, they moved
to Escondido,
CA, where he worked for Hughes
Aircraft for 23 years as a project engineer. He retired in 1993, and a
week later, he went to work for a laser company. Seven years later, he
retired for good. After
retirement, they moved 35 miles north to
Murrieta,
CA (about 70 miles northeast of
San Diego) into a senior
community. Barbara is
on the Social Committee and likes to play cards. Bob plays tennis, started a
woodcarving club, and he works out when he can. He says they have met so
many new friends there.
They live in the wine country and enjoy watching the hot air
balloons that sail overhead each weekend. From their house, they can
see the Palomar Observatory and two snow covered mountains in the
distance.
Bob and Barb have two sons. Their oldest, Steven, works
for the San Diego Board of Education in the computer
department.
Their second son, Scott, lives near them and is a deputy
sheriff for San Diego
County. They have two grandchildren,
a boy 10 and a girl 13.
Bob adds,
“Retirement is GREAT.

IT???” |
