Bruce has been married 45 years to the
former Elizabeth Seskarski of Park
Ridge, Illinois. They met at Purdue where he
went to school after graduating from
Kenmore. They have five children and
eight grandchildren.
Their oldest daughter, Joan Simoneau (44), lives in
Burrton,
Kansas, where she is the music
director for the Burrton School System. She is married and has four
children, aged from 16 to 5.
Their next daughter, Susan Sierra (42), is a middle school
principal in Sugarland,
TX. She has three children, aged
17 to 21. Son, R. Bruce
Mundie (39), is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force and is
stationed at Air Combat Command Headquarters in Langley Air Force
Base, Virginia, where he is Executive Officer for the Chief of Plans
and Programs. He is
about to be transferred to Offutt AFB,
Nebraska, where he
will be a reconnaissance aircraft instructor pilot. He is married and has one 12
year old daughter.
Pamela Graft (37), is Vice President of Science Applications
International Corp. in Washington
D.C. She is married, has no
children, and lives in Leesburg,
VA. Their youngest, Christine,
is single and lives in Alexandria,
VA. She is a public
relations officer with Patton Boggs, a law firm in
Washington,
D.C.
After Purdue, Bruce went into the
Air Force as a pilot for more than 26 years, retiring from Offutt
AFB, Nebraska in
1985. Immediately after
his retirement, he went to work for the Nebraska Dept. of
Aeronautics, where, amongst other things, he was Governor Bob
Kerry’s pilot. After
Gov. Kerry decided to run and win a U.S. Senate seat, Bruce had to,
and found, nearly the same job with the Maryland Aviation
Administration, where he was the General Aviator Director for the
state. After 15 years
there, he retired again last July. Not happy being idle, Bruce
went to work for the Urban Engineers, Inc. as a consultant engineer,
concentrating on airport projects in the northeast. Bruce says his kids thought
he needed to stay busy in his retirement, so they bought him a 1972
MGB that needs to be totally rebuilt; so he is a grease monkey in
his spare time. He
states that this is supposed to be a replacement for the brand new
1963 MG he bought in
England
when he was stationed in
Germany. Bruce adds that he also
loves to make furniture for their own use and for the kids. The car is a summer hobby
and the woodworking is a winter one. He loves to ski and tries to
get to the Rockies at least once per year so
he can “humble himself before the skiing public.”
