Dave’s wife, Kathy (age-classified), is
a retired special education para-educator. Their daughter, Lorrie (44),
is assistant county treasurer.
Son, Scott (42), is engineering/sales manager for a steel
building manufacturing company. Grandson, Kyle (19), is in
transition between working in a chemical fertilizer plant and
returning to college.
Granddaughter, Shannon (10), is a student and “tomboy”, and
granddaughter, Katie, who was born in February, 2005, was named
after her grandmothers, both of whom live close. He says, “Needless to say,
she is spoiled rotten, but cute anyway.”
From 1955 to 1957, Dave attended
Lafayette
College. He resigned in lieu of
returning for his junior year in academic probationary status. He says, “That would have
meant that I would have had to actually study”. He finally received a BA in
Organizational Management from
Concordia
College
(Seward,
Nebraska) in 1996. From 1957 to 1979, Dave was
in the United States Air Force. He spent the majority of his
career in the Electronics Intelligence business. He retired as Senior Master
Sergeant in January, 1979.
In addition to several stops in the
U.S.,
he did manage to set foot in the Azores,
Libya,
Turkey,
Japan,
Okinawa, Guam, the
Philippines,
Germany,
Italy,
Greece,
and Crete. From 1979 to 2003, Dave
worked as a quality control professional for a 550 employee company
which manufactures automated irrigation systems for
agriculture. He retired
as Quality Assurance Manager.
He added
China,
France,
and
Mexico
to his international stops.
Dave is enjoying retirement and working, on his schedule, as
a quality management systems consultant and a quality management
systems auditor. He
tells us his interests are traveling, hunting, fishing, boating,
woodworking, continuing his education, and “imbibing in an
occasional beer”.
