Jack has been married 43 years
to Patricia and has three children, each with separate careers in
finance, structural engineering and advertising (producer) and two
adopted grandsons (9, 12).
Jack is retired from a 25 year
career in academic surgery (surely prompted by Louise Schwabe and
the Biology Club). He
worked for UC San Diego, (specialty – Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgery. Sub-interests
– Burns, Childhood Congenital Deformities), and he directed a
graduate training program.
Avocational interest is history and writing (prompted by
Mellie Mooshie and F. Grace Scott). After retiring, he went back
to school and earned an MA in U.S. History.
Now Jack spends his
time writing. He is
working on a third historical narrative. The first dealt with the
Yukon Gold Rush (he and Pat followed the route of her grandfather
and traced his
“fortune” through the 20th century). Second was a contemporary
interpretation of the medical and surgical care rendered in
Buffalo to President
McKinley after he was mortally wounded in
1901. |
